Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) is in Hollywood! It’s as if all her life has been leading to this moment. She’s hanging out with the stars … or at least she will be, when she finally gets to meet movie superstar Sage Seymour, whom husband Luke is now managing. There’s so much to see and do! And getting Minnie through the hurdles for her A-list Hollywood pre-school will require some…er…help. Becky sets her heart on a new career – she’s going to be a celebrity stylist. Red carpet, here she comes! But Becky soon finds it’s tough in Tinseltown. Luckily her best friend Suze comes over to keep her company, and together they embark on the Hollywood insider trail. But somehow…things aren’t quite working out as they’d hoped. Then Becky’s big chance comes, and it’s an opportunity that money can’t buy. But will it cost her too much?

In the latest of the ‘Shopaholic’ series, we see Becky, Luke and Minnie go to Holywood, as Luke is now working with celebrities and Becky is delighted with this, as one of her many dreams is to become a stylist on the Holywood film scene.

During their stay in America, her best friend Sue, her husband Tarquin and their children visit for a break. But Tarquin seems to spend most of his time at the Golden Peace retreat centre, which is run by the husband of Becky’s arch enemy Alicia “Bitch Long Legs”. A place where celebrities and the stressed people go to relax and unwind, but it has become a bit of cult and worries both Becky and Sue.

Determined to become famous no matter the cost and circumstance, we see a different side to Becky and it was a side I did not like or warm to at all. She became obsessed with the Holywood scene, wanting to be seen at premieres and be friends with people, who were influencing her into becoming quite a shallow person. At times, I found it hard to like the book and her as she let her obsession consume her, hurting those closest to her in the process, and these were occasionally hard scenes to read.

In the typical style of the Shopaholic series, there are plenty of fun and frolics, as Becky adapts to the Holywood way of life and her reasoning and logic behind every mad purchase. The inclusion of funny letters to various companies as Becky comes up with lots of ideas and plans to help her with her stay in America, are also incredibly funny.

Set against the glamour and sophistication of Holywood, the book is filled with familiar characters, that we have all grown to love and relate as we deal with the madness of Becky Bloomwood and her shopping to addiction, ‘Shopaholic To The Stars’ is another fresh, entertaining and warm hearted story that travels at a fast pace that marks the latest return to Becky, her love of shopping and with an unexpected and twisted ending leaves the reader lusting for more.
