The Last Honeytrap By Louise Lee

Scot ‘Scat’ Delaney is a world famous jazz singer. He has ample opportunity to stray and his girlfriend, Alice, needs to know she can trust him. Introducing Florence Love, Private Investigator. Florence has just ten days to entrap an A-Lister. Whilst sticking to her cardinal rule: One kiss, with tongues, five seconds – case closed. A master of body language, evolutionary science and nifty disguises, her approach is unconventional, her success rate excellent. But targets are rarely as beautiful as Scat. Never fall for the target. That is very bad form indeed.

For a debut novel, I thought this book was written in a fresh and frank style that made for sexy and entertaining reading

The story is written in the first person and is seen through the eyes of Florence, a woman who traps cheating men and exposes them of their infidelities for a fee. Sexy and mysterious, she is perfect for her job, luring men in unaware of her intentions. Until one day, a meek and insecure young woman called Alice approaches Florence, seeking her help. She wants Florence to trap her boyfriend and her boyfriend is well known and successful jazz musician called Scott. Florence takes on the job, excited about the new job opportunity and over a course of time and a few chance encounters finds herself drawn to the musician going against her work principles.

Florence is an interesting character, she comes across as a strong and feisty woman but behind closed doors, she’s quite insecure and has never gotten over the sudden disappearance of her mother when she was a child. Her father is determined that her mother is gone forever but Florence thinks otherwise. Throughout the story, there are flashbacks to the time when Florence was a child and her relationship with her Autistic brother, aspiring actor Michael. Michael is also Florence’s partner in business and helps gather evidence for each of the cases she is involved.

A sexy and fun story with an eye catching cover that has some surprising twists along the way with the odd tender thrown in, ‘The Last Honey Trap’ is an interesting beginning to a new series and with a gripping ending that certainly leaves the reader begging for more.
