Honeymoon in Paris by Jojo Moyes

Honeymoon in Paris

Jojo Moyes is a new author for me, I know she has won The Richard and Judy Bookclub Award for “Me Before You”, so I am aware of her success.

I read her first ebook novella, “Honeymoon in Paris” which is the prequel to her next book “The Girl You Left Behind” and thoroughly fell in love with the short story.

At the heart of Jojo Moyes’ heartbreaking new novel, “The Girl You Left Behind”, are two haunting love stories – that of Sophie and Edouard Lefevre in France during the First World War and, nearly a century later, Liv Halston and her husband David. “Honeymoon in Paris” takes place several years before the events to come in “The Girl You Left Behind” when both couples have just married. Sophie, a provincial girl, is swept up in the glamour of Paris but discovers that loving a artist like Edouard brings a series of complications. Following in Sophie’s footsteps a hundred years later, Liv, after a whirlwind romance, finds her Parisian honeymoon is not quite the romantic getaway she had been hoping for…

This enchanting self-contained story will have you falling in love with Liv and Sophie, and with Paris then and now, and it is the perfect taster for the “The Girl You Left Behind”.

“Honeymoon in Paris” is a beautifully written tale that had me hooked from the very first page. Sophie and Liz are two wonderful female leads, both independent with fiery natures that make for heated readings as they battle with their new husbands, located in the romantic city of the Paris, it was hard not to fall with the story and characters, also with such a beautiful cover, this book is designed for success.

As a new reader to Jojo Moyes, I am disappointed that it has taken me so long, to read one of her books but on the other hand, I am delighted to finally to understand what the hype is all. Roll on the release of “The Girl You Left Behind”.

Jojo Moyes new ebook – Honeymoon in Paris

Honeymoon in Paris

Fans of Jojo Moyes will be delighted to hear that she has just released her first ebook, “Honeymoon in Paris” It’s a prequel to her new book, “The Girl You Left Behind” which is out in six weeks.

The story is:

“Honeymoon in Paris” introduces the lead characters of “The Girl You Left Behind”. Sophie Lefevre and her artist husband Edouard are returning to Paris as newlyweds in 1913. Sophie swiftly discovers that despite their marriage, not everyone considers her new husband to be off limits, and that life may not be as simple as she had imagined.

Almost 100 years later, Liv Halston and her new husband David have married in haste and are taking their honeymoon in the City of Lights. But it doesn’t take long before they realise they have very different ideas of what a honeymoon should mean – and Liv is left wondering what on earth she has signed up to.

Jojo recommends reading the short book first, as the second story becomes more poignant.

At only £1.99, this very pretty book is a steal and will definitely tie us over whilst we wait on the main novel.
