Amber Scott is Starting Over by Ruth Saberton
“Amber Scott is Starting Over” is the new delicious read, by London writer Ruth Saberton and like her previous books, “Katy Carter wants a Hero” and “Ellie Andrews Has Seconds Thoughts” this book had me laughing out loud.
Amber Scott is happy with her fast-paced life in London, working on a glossy magazine and enjoying the bars and clubs life is good. The only fly in the ointment is that Ed, her fiancé, doesn’t take her job seriously or pay her enough attention, as he is always busy with his high-powered job as a lawyer.
Then one day out of the blue, Ed announces that he has taken a new job in Cornwall. Distraught at the thought of moving to somewhere where there wouldn’t be a Costa Coffee on tap or a Marks & Spencers on every corner, Amber reluctantly leaves her job for the peace and quiet of Cornwall.
Drastically her life changes, now that she lives in the sticks. No longer is her best friend, the sharp-tongued and sassy Ali but it’s the eccentric Lady Virginia of the Manor. It seems that moving to the countryside has released her wilder side as she answers the door naked and covers her body in green slime.
It seems that I always end up reading a Ruth Saberton novel, when I going through a bit of sad patch in life and thankfully “Amber Scott is Starting Over” was a welcome distraction. Amber regularly made me chuckle as she begins her new life, struggling with her new Aga, her new found friends and animals and seeming to end up in endless disasters particularly in front of the devilishly good-looking Alex Verney, her new best friend’s son.
“Amber Scott is Starting Over” is another warm, refreshing, witty read from the lovely Ruth Saberton, packed with fabulous characters and ridiculous situations, this book is a most for everyone looking for a good laugh and is guaranteed to brighten up even the most darkest of days.
