If you’re looking for a book that will have smiling and chuckling throughout, then I would thoroughly recommend this book. Right from the offset, I was smiling at Laurie’s unique narrative and style of writing and hilarious situations that the heroine, Lizzie gets herself into.

Lizzie, is a delightful character. Reeling from the breakdown of her relationship, she finds herself at loose end and takes herself away to Wales, where she meets Rod. A fur loving man, who dresses up as a raccoon as a hobby at a fur convention where humans dress up as characters and animals. He introduces Lizzie to this fun way of life as well as well as injecting some spice into her life. Whilst having a new man in her life, Lizzie decides to recover her old television career to help her earn some well needed money as well as get herself out there. A former television chef, she wants to return to her old life and no longer be seen as a has been.

Lizzie is glorious character, she’s witty, direct and has some amazing one liners. She’s not a typical over 60 character, she’s passionate and doesn’t want to be left out to pasture and is keen to move with modern times, as well as find a companion even if his hobbies are a bit unconventional. As well as Lizzie, the supporting characters are deliciously fun including her sharp tongued mother and the charming Rod.

Cleverly written with fantastic characters, ‘Anyone For Seconds?’ is filled with fun, heart and new beginnings, a sweet and charming story that will warm the cockles of your heart.
