About Handwritten Girl

Bronagh McAteerMy name is Bronagh McAteer and I enjoy nothing more than settling down on a rainy evening with a steaming mug of tea and a good book.

I have been a fan of books ever since I was a child — Mum tucking me in at night and reading me Bambi is one of my earliest memories relating to books. I read all types of books and have yet to find the one genre that is just right for me; perhaps that’s why I read so much.

My favourite book of all time has got to be ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenberger. There are a number of reasons why I love this book, although if I was to share any of my reason with you, then I would be giving away the story. Why not read it for yourself and see what you think.

I don’t have favourite genres of books, only favourite authors, they range from Chuck Palahniuk, Douglas Coupland, Dean Koontz to Adele Parks. Random authors with quirky interesting tales.

My favourite line from any book, has got to be the opening line to ‘The Lovely Bones’ by Alice Sebold ‘My name is Salmon, like the fish; first name Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6 1973′. I enjoy the simplicity and powerful setting this line evokes.

As well as having a passion for reading and writing, I also enjoy travelling and have been more fortunate to visit some of Europe’s finest cities and sit in some of the prettiest parks and enjoy the surroundings with the company of a good book.

Combined with my love of reading, writing and hopefully good design taste, I have created handwrittengirl.com

I have interviews and reviews of some of my favourite authors and books, that I have discovered over the years along with some added bits and bobs to make the site a bit more colourful.
