Hester Monday is a bit of an unique travel agent, she’s loves sending clients away on their dream holidays, wishing them Bon voyage unknown to them Hester has a fear of flying and hasn’t been on a plane since her childhood.

When her client Jake is injured, the woman he rescued wants to thank him by putting him in a top hotel and wants to send him off on a holiday but he’s not interested and asks Hester to bring the exotic locations to him, a staycation with a twist, but in the ultimate twist, he wants Hester to show off her holiday adventures.

Hester brings Jake to Australia and Italy plus many other exotic destinations through music, food and experiences regaling stories of her adventures, vicariously through her friends who have all travelled the world. But as Hester tells her stories and experiences to Jake, she finds herself not only falling for the handsome hero but also for the adventure of travel and thinks it’s time to face up to her fears.

I’ve read a few books by Cressida particularly her ‘Cornish Cream Tea’ series and this book was a lovely standalone book to curl up and enjoy. Packed with adventures, lovely, relatable characters and scenarios without leaving the comfort of your own sofa, ‘The Staycation’ is a beautifully written story that is the perfect poolside read.
