The London Book Fair and Curtis Brown Creative Announce Partnership For The London Writers Fair
For all you aspiring authors out, take note as The London Book Fair (LBF) and Curtis Brown Creative are delighted to announce The London Writers Fair, a full day of novel-writing teaching, industry advice and networking opportunities for new writers, which takes place on Friday 11 April 2014 at Foyles, Charing Cross Road, London.
The London Writers Fair has been designed to give writers the chance to take part in dedicated, top-quality creative-writing classes, and to gain advice from significant industry players on how to pitch to literary agents and publishers.
This first special day-long event will see 30 aspiring novelists take part in a morning of writing workshops led by acclaimed novelists and experienced Curtis Brown Creative tutors Nikita Lalwani and Louise Wener (in two groups of 15). In the afternoon – which will be free of charge to authors registered with The London Book Fair – the 30 will be joined by a further 70 new writers for two panel events on how to hone your debut novel and pitch it to agents and publishers. This will be followed by a drinks and networking session. Speakers will include this year’s Costa Book Of the Year winner Nathan Filer, bestselling author Adele Parks, Curtis Brown agent Karolina Sutton and Conville & Walsh agent Sophie Lambert.
Curtis Brown Creative, which launched in 2011, has now seen 9 former students gain major publishing deals.
Jacks Thomas, Director, The London Book Fair, said: “The London Book Fair is a fabulous resource for aspiring authors. This year we are delighted to extend the established Author HQ offering beyond the three days of the book fair with this exciting Curtis Brown Creative partnership. The combination of creative-writing expertise, access to author and agent experience and advice, all taking place within one of London’s most iconic bookshops is sure to be a great and rewarding day. Our first London Book and Screen Week should end on a high note.â€
Commenting on this exciting development, Anna Davis, Director, Curtis Brown Creative – who will chair The London Writers Fair – says: “Curtis Brown Creative is delighted to partner with The London Book Fair on this exciting day-event. We will make it as useful as possible for new novelists. I’m personally very much looking forward to reading the work from applicants who’d like to take the classes, and to meeting the larger group of writers in the afternoon event.â€
The London Writers Fair will be the final day of LBF’s London Book and Screen Week. The week is designed to bring into focus the importance that written content has across an increasingly multi-channel route to the consumer.
As a writer myself, this is most definitely an event that I will be looking into.
