This is the first book that I’ve read by Jules Moulin and it genuinely was an entertaining and lighthearted story that has encouraged me to look into her back catalogue.

The story is primarily seen through the eyes of Ally Hughes, a successful professor and single mother of a girl called Lizzie. Ten years ago, she spent an exhausting weekend with her student Jake who helped build Lizzie’s birthday presents but as well as do some prepare work around the house, he also gave her a lust for life and sex. Now ten years later, Lizzie is all grown up, with a high IQ and fluent in three languages, but all she wants to do is act but it seems that her nose is preventing her from getting all the great parts so she decides that a nose job is in order much to her mother’s heartbreak. Ally is single, although she does have a male friend called Teddy, who wants to take things to the next level but Ally doesn’t seem that keen, she often thinks of that lost weekend with Jake. But suddenly Jake Bean reappears in her life in the shape of Noah Bean, Lizzie’s new boyfriend and hugely successful actor who has captured the hearts of millions whole wide and not only Ally’s and Lizzie’s and now Ally has to deal with new unwanted feelings of lust for her daughters boyfriend.

The story is cleverly written, it flashes back to the past and present, to the initial meeting of Ally and Jake and the weekend they spent together and this does make for sweet and passionate reading and then to the present when he reappears in her life.

Ally is a lovely character, her first love is her daughter and she’s heartbroken that she doesn’t realise her beauty and when Jake returns, it’s tender to see her feelings and passion reignite for him and her naivety about his popularity does also make for sweet reading. Jake is the perfect hero of the story, sweet, masculine and protective, he exudes testosterone in every scene and is a particularly sexy lead.

A fun, flirty and charming story from the very beginning with a colourful cover, ‘Ally Hughes Has Sex Sometimes’ is a lovely story about second chances.
