The Perks of Being A Wallflower film trailer released

The Perks of Being a Wildflower

For fans of the cult book “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” by Stephen Chbosky there were reservations and cries of outrage when it was announced that it was going to be adapted for screen.

I myself loved the book and was wary with the announcement with the film adaptation but the trailer of the film was released during the week and there seemed to be a sigh of relief, as it seems that the film will do the book some justice.

The story follows the journey of shy, sensitive, Charlie (Logan Lerman), a high school freshman who struggles with depression, and to make matters worse, he doesn’t have friends at school. That is, until he’s befriended by step-siblings Patrick and Sam (Ezra Miller and Emma Watson), who invite him to join their group of misfits and make him feel accepted.

Although the preview of the film, seems to have an lighter feel to it than off the book, the screenplay is also written and directed by Chbosky so the differences between the two should be minimal.

The acting of in the film should also be entertaining with Emma Watson adopting an American accent for the role of Sam and Paul Rudd and Nina Dobrev as supporting roles, it does make for an interesting cast.

“The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is released by Summit Entertainment and will be screened at selected cinemas from September 14th 2012
