Pan Macmillan Acquires Two New Titles By Debbie Howells

The Bones Of YouPan Macmillan has bought two more books from psychological thriller writer Debbie Howells, author of the top ten bestseller debut ‘The Bones of You’. UK and Commonwealth rights were acquired from Juliet Mushens of United Talent Agency.

When Evie Sherman is discovered, battered and left for dead in a maize field, she has no recollection of who she is. As her memories gradually return, she remembers her own name, and another: Angel. Her three-year-old daughter. The police search Evie’s home, but there’s no sign of Angel. More disturbingly, there’s nothing at all to indicate the presence of a child. They’re forced to conclude that Evie is having some kind of breakdown, and Angel doesn’t exist. As Evie’s grasp on reality slips away, she hears the same words, over and over:  trust no-one. Then she starts finding beads that she’s convinced are from one of Angel’s bracelets and the police step up their search, unaware that on the fringes of Evie’s life, there’s someone else.  Someone hidden, who has their own agenda and their own twisted version of reality..

‘Part of the Silence’ is a beautifully-written psychological thriller about secrets, distorted realities and the unreliability of memory, set on the Cornish coast.

Editorial director, Trisha Jackson, said ‘We are delighted to have the opportunity to build on the success of ‘The Bones of You’. Debbie is a joy to work with and her writing has an originality and freshness to it which, for me, sets her apart in this crowded market’.

Debbie Howells said ‘I’m completely thrilled to be continuing to work with Trish and the whole brilliant team at Pan Macmillan’

Juliet Mushens commented ‘Debbie is a phenomenal talent – she finds the unsettling beneath the everyday and creates wonderfully layered characters. I’m thrilled that Pan Macmillan will continue to grow her career and build on the bestselling success of her first book’.

Debbie Howells is a florist and lives with her family in Sussex. Her agent Juliet Mushens discovered
The Bones of You and immediately spotted it as a future bestseller. It was selected for the Richard and Judy Spring 2016 Book Club.

Pan Macmillan will publish Debbie’s second book, ‘The Beauty of the End’, this summer, with Part of the Silence coming in 2017 and her fourth title in 2018.
