[amazon_link id=”0349412782″ target=”_blank” ][/amazon_link]’Danger Sweetheart’ is the first book in Mary Janice Davidson’s new series.
Blake Tarbell has a town to save. Rich, carefree, and used to the Vegas party lifestyle, Blake is thrown for a curve when his former cocktail-waitress mother pleads he go back to her roots to save the town she grew up in. Blake’s used to using money to solve his problems, but when he arrives in Sweetheart, North Dakota, this city boy has to trade in his high-priced shoes for a pair of cowboy boots – and he’s about to get a little help from the loveliest lady in town . . .
Natalie Lane’s got no time for newbies. The prettiest gal to ever put on a pair of work gloves, there’s nothing she can’t do to keep a farm up and running. But when a handsome city-slicker rolls into town with nothing but bad farmer’s instincts and good intentions, Natalie’s heartstrings are pulled. She’s about to teach him a thing or two about how to survive in Sweetheart. And he’s about to teach her a thing or two about love.
With its loud and vibrant cover, ‘Danger Sweetheart’ was guaranteed to be an adventurous story and I wasn’t disappointed when I tucked into this romantic and witty tale about a down trodden town and the reluctant hero.
The story is seen through the eyes of the Blake Tarbell and Natalie Lane. Blake is a rich and suave womaniser, who is a gentleman and let his one night stands spend the night instead of looking for taxis unlike his twin brother, Rake, who lacks in good manners. Blake has been summoned to Sweetheart by his bossy mother, Savannah who wants to get the town back onto its feet and she needs her smart son’s help. Opposed to his mother’s grand idea, Blake leaves the bright city lights for a bed and breakfast with a piglet called Rose. Natalie Lane is a sweetheart, hard working with a sharp tongue and sense of humour, she reluctantly finds herself drawn to Blake, but he is everything that she doesn’t want in a man and as much as she tries, she finds herself drawn to the man, much to his amusement.
The book is packed with witty and relatable characters with genuine laugh out loud moments that really did make for entertaining reading. MaryJanice’s style of writing is fast paced and constantly moves from one scenario or quip to the next that always has the reader on their toes.
Riddled with drama, sass and fun, ‘Danger Sweetheart’ is a deliciously enjoyable story with a clever plot line and sexy characters. The perfect holiday read.
