“A Winter Flame” is such a fantastically funny and warm hearted read that I couldn’t put it down and consumed it in one day!
With a mixture of vibrant and colourful characters, this book was a festive treat with a beautiful twist. With such an array of characters, it was most difficult to chose a favourite one. The leading lady, Eve was a wonder to read as she tried to fulfil her late aunts last wish whilst trying to recover from losing the love of her life. Right from the start its obvious that she has suffered from heartache and with a gentle flash backs, we discover why she has such a dislike for the festive season. She was a strong, independent soul but underneath, her heart is as gentle as a snowflake. Jacques, the unlikely hero of a story, was a boisterous character that I found hard not to like, his love of all things Christmas and optimism helped Eve to see the lighter things in life. I particularly enjoyed the scenes that involved the building of the theme park itself, as some of the minor characters provided quite a few moments, that made me chuckle whilst Eve’s late aunt Evelyn, was like the Christmas ghost of the story, weaving in and out of the storyline through flashbacks as Eve and Jacques worked on building her theme park.
“A Winter Flame”, is a quirky and funny read that will warm you from the tips of your toes. Wonderfully written and never a dull moment, join Eve on her adventures as she reluctantly builds a Christmas theme park with hilarious and eye-opening results and finally discovers that life can go on with the help of Welsh elves and adorable reindeers!
