About ten years ago, when I was thinking about giving ‘it’ all up to have a go at writing, I heard that the Daily Telegraph was running a competition to write a ‘mini-saga’, i.e. a story in fifty words.
I would say the best advice is write for you, not anyone else, and also don’t stop- loads of people get about 20,000 words in then give up on novels.
