I really enjoyed this book and thought it was the perfect escapism read, ideal for those who don’t get away on a sunny holiday this year. The lead character Alice is wonderful, pleasant and sweet and always willing to fade into the background but just like everyone girl in the world, she longs to be loved and admired but living in her younger sister’s Stella’s shadow life can be occasionally hard as Stella regularly has demands and teenage strops even though she is in her twenties! I particularly enjoyed the scenes with Stella, even though she was incredibly selfish and self absorbed, scenes with her made for particularly entertaining reading that made me laugh and tut in irritation.

Milo, the main love interest in the story is delicious, wonderfully rugged and masculine, he played the hero beautifully and it was quite obvious that Alice would fall for his sweet and caring nature.

As the story is seen through the perspectives of both Alice and Milo, I thought it was cleverly written as the scenes of the island are seen through the eyes of both a local and a tourist, which I found especially quirky, given a hidden insight to the Greek island. I thought it was also beautifully descriptive and vivid, that at times I was so mesmerised by story that I almost felt like I was there with Alice.

A sweet story with an equally sweet concept, ‘Wish You Were Here’ is an enchanting holiday story packed with fun, sun and romance, a perfect sun lounger accompaniment.
