The story is primarily seen through the narrative of aspiring journalist Claire, who decides to investigate the story behind Professor Leo Saunders m and his allegation that he never discovered the rare lemming creature that made him famous. As she delves into his past, Claire finds herself delving into the past and uncovering some secrets that were hidden. There are also past references seen from Professor Leo as he embarks on his lemming journey.

Claire is a brilliant character, between balancing her investigation and working at the local gym providing fitness classes to the local lads and lasses. She’s fun and with juggling jobs, she’s considering starting a relationship with her new Australian work colleague called Ryan. I loved her passion for investigation and as the story progresses, we see her grow in confidence as she remembered to bring her notebook and pen.

Professor Leo is also an interesting character as he finds the famous creatures that make him a household name.

Fun from the first page, this cleverly written and witty story, is perfect for all animal lovers, filled with mystery and suspense. ‘The Last Lemming’ is a well crafted story of greed and cute critters that’s a well worthy read.
