Reputation By Sarah Vaughan

Reputation‘Reputation’ is the latest book by Sarah Vaughan.

Emma Webster is a respectable MP. Emma Webster is a devoted mother. Emma Webster is innocent of the murder of a tabloid journalist. Emma Webster is a liar.

This is the first book that I’ve read by Sarah Vaughan and it was a fantastic introduction to this popular author.

The story is written in the past and present tense and seen primarily through the narrative of MP Emma Webster, a committed MP who looks out for women who fall victim to revenge porn. One day her world falls down around when a tabloid journalist is found at the bottom of stairs and all fingers point towards Emma. The story then follows the highly publicised court case and elements of Emma’s life become exposed, parts that she’d like to stay hidden.

I loved this book, it’s tense and gripping and as the title says, it’s all about ‘Reputation’ and how far a person is willing to go to protect theirs. I loved Emma, as a mother to a teenage daughter, her primary instinct is to protect her and this makes for fascinating reading as the court case reveals more of Emma’s private life. Her daughter is a typical teenager who’s struggling to fit in and the girls that she was once friends with, are no longer her friends and she finds herself alone and trolled.

This book is a gripping courtroom drama that really held my attention throughout. The various narratives of Flora, Emma and Caroline’s who’s the new wife of Emma’s ex husband all make for interesting reading with their different perspectives and narratives. It also focuses on the trolling and social media and the horrors that women of all ages are exposed and there’s some shocking reading in parts!

Cleverly written with an intricate plot line that hooked my attention from the first page, ‘Reputation’ is a suspenseful story about the power of protecting your reputation as well as a mother’s love.

You can pre-order ‘Reputation’ from Amazon and will be available to buy from good bookshops from 3rd March 2022.
