The One By Claire Frost

The One‘The One’ is the latest book by Claire Frost.

Lottie Brown has finally found The One. Leo is everything she’s ever wanted – he’s handsome, kind, funny and totally gets her. Three months into their relationship, Lottie is in love and happier than ever before. But then Leo tragically dies, and Lottie is left floundering. As she struggles to stop her life falling apart, Lottie learns more about the man she thought she knew, and starts to question whether Leo really was as perfect as he seemed…

Previous books by Claire have been lighthearted comedies packed with warmth but in Claire’s latest book there’s an underlying sense of sadness and mystery to this story.

The story is seen through Lottie’s perspective, she’s spent the happiest 3 months with Leo and just as she’s about to introduce him to her sisters, he dies. The story follows her dealing with her grief and also includes the past tense of their time together.

This is Claire’s third book and I’ve loved her previous two books. They are light and enjoyable reads that are easy to sink into and ‘The One’ was a lovely book.

The past scenes make for lovely reading as we are introduced to Leo and Lottie and their obvious attraction to each other and it’s cruel that just as they’re falling for each other that’s it’s ripped apart. As we join Lottie after Leo’s death, she begins to learn more about him and wonders if she really knew the man that she was falling in love with.

Claire has added a new skill to her bow and is now a fantastic mystery writer. Filled with her trademark wit and charm, this book is also a poignant story of self discovery and grief which is written beautifully. Lottie is a lovely character, she’s kind, fun and is in a limbo having met and lost someone so soon.

Pack up your tissues and fill up the kettle for a cup of tea as ‘The One’ is the perfect to curl up with!
