Julie Lawson’s new book – Emailing Allie

Emailing Allie

I just heard about “Emailing Allie” by Julie Lawson today, and couldn’t let the day pass by without mentioning this unique story

The story is –

294 billion emails are sent every day, making them the most popular form of communication on the planet. How much could someone tell if they dived into your inbox?

When HR Manager at BMT Publishing, Julie Lawson, is given the task of clearing best friend and ex-colleague Allie Rainsbury’s old inbox, she isn’t prepared for an all-consuming, hilarious and uplifting journey through a year of Allie’s life, loves and laughs.

At 31, Allie finds herself with an unhealthy addiction to tea, an impressive ability to procrastinate during her working day, and a rather dire love-life. It isn’t until new office eye-candy David turns up that Allie sees her luck about to change. Through daily email updates with Julie and flirty exchanges with David, we see an office romance burgeoning behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, Allie is on the receiving end of written warnings from Finance Director Scott Cooper, who is forever reprimanding Allie for her lack of organisational skills. With emails almost as dull as his personality, it takes an office team-building trip for Scott to loosen up, and for Allie to realise that there might be more to him than meets the emails…

Finally, there are the adventures with best friend Chris – from Green Day gigs, to guitar lessons and grueling running sessions – but is there romance in the pipeline as well?

When personal tragedy strikes and Allie’s mum is admitted to hospital, life as she knows it is put on hold. Through the following weeks it becomes apparent to Allie the messages that really matter, and those that should be consigned to her junk folder.

Email by email, experience first-hand Allie’s trials and tribulations, both inside and outside the office, and share with her a year that no-one, even Allie herself, could prepare for.

I love the concept of this story and looking forward to reading it. Plus as an Apple fan, I’m loving the cover!
