Handwritten Girl Talks To Vicky Pattison

Handwritten Girl and Vicky PattisonAs part of the whirl wind tour to promote her new lifestyle book ‘The Real Me’, current Queen of the Jungle, Vicky Pattison came to Eason Belfast and I was fortunate to get a quick interview with her before she concluded her tour in Dublin.

Sum up your latest book ‘The Real Me’ in three words.
‘The Real Me’ in three words is the real me. That book is me. It’s just a paper version of me. It’s all my handy hints, my confidence tips, playlist for getting ready, cocktail recipes, what I recommend for first dates and interviews. It’s like, if I was your best friend, your mate, that’s me in a book.

When you first appeared in ‘Geordie Shore’, you were 23 years old. You’re now 28 and have succeeded in so much since then. What advice would you give yourself now if you were starting your journey over again?
First of all, thank you for saying I’m successful I really appreciate that. I’m always sort of chasing something else, so I never really truly class myself as that. I look back at myself on ‘Geordie Shore’ and I think people assume that I’m going to be massively remorseful and regretful of the way that I behaved and things and I’m just not at all. I’m not going to apologise for the way that I behaved, there are some instances, some particular moments which do warrant an apology and I wholeheartedly expressed contrition for those, I’m sure you will be able to guess what they are. However, across the board that was me growing up. That was me, like learning about myself, that was me learning about how to live with other people, finding out what qualities I liked about myself and what I didn’t. For example, I found out that I seriously have a problem with controlled environments, I don’t like being stifled. I have this deep adventurous nature and I like to explore things and go where I want and do what I want, I like unpredictability which was something that I was completely denied in ‘Geordie Shore’, you are told where to go and when to go and what to say sometimes, that level of control just didn’t bode well with me.

Do you know what I mean? Just to keep making mistakes, keep living, keep meeting new people, keep doing new things and always stay true to yourself and I do feel as though, like despite a couple of moments when I may have wavered and I may have lost sight of who I am and who I want to be, only momentarily, across the board throughout the last five years I’ve definitely stayed true to who I am with a couple of exceptions.

So, five years ago Vicky, keep doing what you’re doing, keep being you, have courage, be kind and try not to be a knob!

What’s next for the Vicky Pattison adventure?

I’m finishing my book tour today, it comes with a mixture of great sadness and great elation as I’m shattered. It’s been incredible, I can’t thank everyone enough, who’s came, who’s bought a book and who’s enjoyed ‘The Real Me’. I have a day off and then I’m travelling to Iceland to climb a mountain for Breast Cancer Research. So, I suppose that’s my next adventure. After that it’s back to work, there’s plenty more things for me happening this year, ‘Loose Women’, ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ with Eamonn Holmes, that’s incredible, there’s a couple more episodes of that to go out. Working on some new stuff at ITV. It’s just an incredibly overwhelming feeling to be this busy but it’s brilliant. So plenty more adventures to be had this year and we’re only in the Summer!
