A Passionate Love Affair With A Total Stranger by Lucy Robinson
[amazon_link id=”0718157664″ target=”_blank” ][/amazon_link]A Passionate Love Affair with a Total Stranger’ is Lucy Robinson’s second novel and follows on her from her successful debut, ‘The Greatest Love Story of All Time’
Charley Lambert has worked hard at creating a perfect life. She has an aspirational flat, a job of international significance and a very good pair of legs thanks to her rigorous health regime. Best of all, her boss has asked her out, only seven years after hard flirting and mop cupboard fumbling.
But, disaster strikes when she breaks her leg in three places, watches her boss propose to another woman and her job is handed over to her nasty deputy. Charley, a certified workaholic, fears that she will go mad. Dangerously bored, she starts to help people who are hopeless at internet dating. Then William arrives in her inbox and her world is turned upside down. Helpless she finds herself falling for a stranger and discovers that she’s not who she thought she was. But can she turn her back on her old life – all for a total stranger?
I absolutely loved this book, I could not put it down! Filled with so many great characters that it is almost impossible to pick a favourite. With Charley, our leading heroine, a passionate and driven Scottish Amazon who can’t seem to relax and is constantly discovering something new to do. Sam, Charley’s flatmate and the unlikely hero of the story is a delight to read, famous for his charm and philandering ways, it was hard not to fall in love with the sweetheart of the book. Along with the main characters of the story, there was one character in particular that stood out to me and that was Shelley. The loud and hectic businesswoman, who comes to Charley looking for dating advice. With her bossiness and large booming voice, scenes with Shelley were particularly entertaining as Charley had to deal with a woman who behaved just like her, as Charley struggled to deal with the sudden changes in her once perfect life that were spiralling out of control.
A genuinely funny and heart-warming story that will have you laughing out loud especially at the occasional rude humour that made me snort into my tea. ‘A Passionate Love Affair with a Total Stranger’ is beautifully and wittily written, the exchanges between Charley and William make for a particularly tender reading as like Charley, we all fall for the handsome at the other end of the line. Packed with love, humour and bossy men and women, this story will have you hooked as you join Charley on her path of self-discovery resulting in drama and mishaps throughout. With an absolutely beautiful cover that I also adored, ‘A Passionate Love Affair with a Total Stranger’ is one book I highly recommend everyone reads!
