Adorkable by Sarra Manning
“Adorkable” is the latest teen fiction book from Sarra Manning.
Jeane Smith is a blogger, CEO of her own lifestyle brand, has half a million Twitter followers and looks down at people that don’t share her opinion. Michael Lee is the star of the school, loved and admired by all. Jeane and Michael have absolutely nothing in common apart from their cheating exes, so why do the pair of them always end up kissing?
I loved “Adorkable”, I thought it was an adorable book, packed with sassiness and attitude I couldn’t put it down. Torn for my love of both Jeane and Michael, I couldn’t decide which one my loyalty laid with. All I wanted was for both to be happy and most importantly with each other.
As lead characters, I thought Jeane was brilliant, I loved her ego, her obnoxiousness and how if you didn’t think like her, then you weren’t even worthy to be on Twitter list. I loved her attitude towards life and found her opinions somewhat amusing and insightful that I often found myself nodding in agreement. I also found her own Adorkable brand quite inspiring and informative as I too am involved in blogging so I found her ideas and thoughts motivating. Other smaller characters throughout the story also amused me. Barney, her ginger haired ex and Scarlett, Michael’s ex who openly quakes in her boots at the merest sight of Jeane had me snorting in the bus aisles.
Although “Adorkable” is written for the teenage market, I think this book could be read by both the young and the old, because at the end of the day, no matter what age you are, you are always discovering new things about yourself.
