[amazon_link id=”1471140466″ target=”_blank” ]Afternoon Tea At The Sunflower Cafe[/amazon_link]’Afternoon Tea At The Sunflower Cafe’ is the latest book by Milly Johnson.

Connie Diamond has always been her husband Jimmy s best girl or so she thought. But then she discovers that he s been playing away for the past twenty-four years, and that the chocolates she believed he bought her as a sign of his love were just a cover-up, and she is determined to get revenge.

Along with Della Frostick, Jimmy s right-hand woman at his cleaning firm, Diamond Shine, Connie decides to destroy Jimmy s life from the inside. Together they will set up a rival business called Lady Muck, and along with the cleaning ladies who meet at the Sunflower Café, they ll make him wish he had never so much as looked at another woman.

Then Connie meets the charming Brandon Locke, a master chocolatier, whose kind chocolate-brown eyes start to melt her soul. Can the ladies of the Sunflower Café help Connie scrub away the hurt? And can Brandon cure her affliction and make her smile again…?

Milly has produced another great book that is the perfect distraction from the trials of life, filled with wit, filth and drama, I found this story impossible to put down.

The story focuses mainly around three women Connie, Della and Cheryl, who have all been treated as underdogs but have decided that enough is enough and they are tried of being made fools off.

When Della finds out that her cleaning company boss and secret love of her life Jimmy is having an affair, she finds great pleasure in revealing this shocking news to his meek wife Connie, but instead of sitting back and being cheated on, the two of them decide to set up their own rival cleaning company. Cheryl is also left heartbroken when her boyfriend looses all her savings to bet on her horse. Feeling alone and empty, she enjoys the company of her cleaning clients particularly an elderly woman called Edith, who loves nothing more than sharing old stories.

The story primarily follows the three woman but there snippets from other leading characters in the story, such as Jimmy, Connie’s handsome two timing husband as he deals with the pressure and drama of his business falling apart around as well as the sudden sex ban his 19 year old fiancé has introduced. Sex starved and stressed makes Jimmy an absolutely fabulous character with his creative dialogue and handling of the situations. I truly loved the three leading ladies and thought that both Connie and Cheryl were quite similar in both their personalities and the situations they were in. The two of them were quiet and let people walk over them but as the story progresses, we see them mature and become independent.

This book is an absolutely charming read and just the tonic I needed for going through my reading slump. Filled with intriguing characters, hilarious scenarios and delicious one liners, ‘Afternoon Tea At The Sunflower Cafe’ is an upbeat and wittily written story about friendship, new beginnings and starting over. A truly recommended book.
