I curled up with it one day and became an anti-social recluse, talking to no-one and only putting it down when I needed fed and watered.

The story is seen solely through the eyes of Paul Strom, a successful business man with the perfect family and wife and a good reputation. To celebrate his success, Paul decides to take his wife, Mia away for romantic getaway claiming it to be the best day ever but it seems that Paul has a lot more in store for their best day ever, more than Mia could have ever expected.

This book is so gripping, because it’s written solely through one narrative, it gives an great insight into Paul’s. To the outside world, Paul is the perfect, man, husband and father but in reality, he’s sexist, egotistical and consumed by money and power and will not anything stand in his way particularly his wife.

But as their day progresses, we see super cool and confident’s mask regularly slip, letting the world see Paul’s true personality. Throughout the story, we see flashbacks into Paul’s past, from his childhood, career and to how he became the person that the reader will rapidly dislike.

The story flows at a fast pace, really engaging the readers attention with many plot twists that leave both Paul and the reader shocked.

A suspenseful story with a charismatic lead that I detested and sympathised in equal measures, ‘Best Day Ever’ is a thrilling story. Cleverly written with wit and honesty, this book gives an insight into what goes on behind and not everyone is as perfect as they look!
