From Notting Hill To New York…Actually by Ali McNamara
“From Notting Hill to New York…Actually” is the third book by English author, Ali McNamara.
Scarlett O’Brien is addicted to romantic comedy films and has finally found her leading man. She’s convinced that Sean is the man for her. But the day to day reality of the relationship, doesn’t quite live up to the movies, as Sean spends quite a bit of time away on business. So Scarlett and her best friend Oscar decide to head to New York, for the holiday of a lifetime.
From one famous landmark to the next, Scarlett and Oscar make many new friends and adventures along the way, including Jamie and Max, a TV reporter and camera man. Scarlett finds herself strangely drawn to Jamie, as they have so much in common, and begins to wonder if she has found her Mr Right, then why is she reacting like this to another man.
“From Notting Hill to New York…Actually” is the first book I have read by Ali McNamara and what a fun and adventurous book it was.
Right from the start, we are thrown into the hectic and unpredictable world of Scarlet who continuously seems to find herself in the most unusual of situations. Packed off to New York with her flamboyant best friend Oscar, I immediately knew it wouldn’t be plain sailing for our flame haired heroine, as film stars and camera crews seem to fall in her lap, making for entertaining and lighted hearted reading with one of the best and most unexpected twists I have had the joy of reading in recent months. Gently and wittily written, the story flows along at an easy pace that make this romantic comedy the perfect book to curl up with.
“From Notting Hill to New York…Actually” is a wonderfully endearing and riveting story, filled with sparkly, witty and vibrant characters that makes for enjoyable reading.
