Georgie Hart and Carrington’s Department Store have got the world at their feet. Since a reality TV series put them both on the map, life has been amazing! Carrington’s profits are in the pink, Georgie has carved herself a place in the nation’s heart and her romance with Tom, the store’s boss, has finally blossomed.
Now summertime has come to Mulberry-on -Sea and Georgie is in great demand. The town is holding a big summer festival and she and her mates from Carrington’s are planning on making sure that Mulberry puts on the show of its life!
But Georgie is about to get the offer of a lifetime – one that is just too good to turn down and something that will test her loyalties to their limits… Will Georgie be able to pull off it off once again, or has her luck finally run out?
‘Ice Creams At Carrington’s’ sees us wishing a fond and sad break to our favourite department store and it’s treasured colleagues. And in Alexandra’s quirky and fresh style of writing, she has made sure that the latest book sees everyone go out with a bang.
As like her previous books, the story is seen from the perspective of Georgie Hart, our leading heroine who loves her job as VIP Personal shopper, picking out the best in fashion and accessories for discerning customers all whilst dating handsome Tom Carrington, the boss of the business. In the concluding book of the series, we see the storyline become a little bit darker and serious, but never once does the story lose it’s witty and fun flow that I have come to enjoy with Alexandra’s writing, fun and current dialogue that leaves the reader chuckling.
In ‘Ice Creams At Carrington’s, Georgie has been given the responsibility to help organise the Mulberry-On-Sea regatta and determined to prove that she knows more than fashion, she digs out her highlighters and gets into organising the event of the year with the help of her colleagues. But, like the previous Carrington’s books, nothing is ever smooth sailing and Georgie finds herself on an whirlwind adventure to New York, her Dad and his girlfriend having a late mid life crisis and announcing that they are off travelling on a battered old camper van and her friendship with her best friend Sam, is suddenly in jeopardy. Throw in, our favourite characters Eddie, Annie and Mrs Grace, this book is indeed a fun and captivating story that had me smiling throughout.
With a beautifully illustrated cover, I loved ‘Ice Creams At Carrington’s’ and thought it was another heart-warming story, packed with twists, turns and handsome men. With Alexandra now taking a break from the fictional department store, I eagerly look forward to Alexandra’s next writing venture and hope that one day she will return to Carrington’s and let us know how everyone is getting on.
