Isaac and the Egg By Bobby Palmer
‘Isaac and the Egg’ is the latest book by Bobby Palmer.
When Isaac Addy walks into the woods on the worst day of his life and finds something extraordinary there, he already knows he’s going to take it home. A grieving Isaac and his curious new friend are unlikely companions. They don’t even speak the same language. But their chance encounter will transform Isaac’s life in ways he cannot yet imagine. And maybe he will finally be able to tell the truth.
When I initially started this book, I was so bemused as to where it was going, but just like the film ‘E.T’, I quickly fell in love with the odd pairing and their strong friendship.
The story is seen through the third person about Isaac, a man who’s lost after the death of his wife Mary. On the day, he considers taking his own life, he finds the ‘Egg’ an egg shaped being that dramatically brings Isaac back from the brink and helps him through his lose. The duo form a friendship and Isaac introduces ‘Egg’ to his favourite films including ‘ET’ and ‘Egg’ through his unique form of communication helps Isaac address his grieving.
I loved this story, it’s a sentimental and poignant story of loss but it’s also a lovely story of hope. I loved the characters and ‘Egg’ despite his appearance is fascinating characters and adds an element of humour to the somewhat sad story.
Beautifully written and a story that is filled with heart. With a nod to ‘ET’, ‘Isaac and the Egg’ is special story that strikes a chord and is heartbreaking and uplifting in equal measures.
You can buy ‘Isaac and the Egg’ from Amazon and is available to buy from good bookshops.
