Kill For It By Lizzie Fry

Kill For It‘Kill For It’ is the latest book by Lizzie Fry.

Erin Goodman is a very good reporter. Up until recently, in fact, she was the best. Cat Sullivan suddenly seems to have the inside scoop; she’s always in the right place at the right time for the juiciest news reports. When Cat just happens to be in the area when a murder is called in, Erin can no longer ignore the long run of coincidences giving Cat’s career a boost. But Cat knows Erin is onto her. And Cat is more than happy to toy with her colleague, especially if it gets her an even bigger story to report on. In the game of cat and mouse, there can be only one winner.

This story of cat and mouse is seen through the perspective of journalists Erin and Cat. Erin is a successful journalist furthering her career whilst Erin is struggling to get up the career ladder. Now two years into the job and she feels only a minion. Under appreciated in her job and disrespected by her boyfriend Lawrence, a horrible man who constantly wavers between good and bad moods. Cat decides it’s time to make a change and with Erin now taking her under wing, she decides that if she’s going to get anywhere in her life, then she has to make it happen herself.

When a spate of deaths happen in the media tower where they work and Cat is the first on hand to report, she sees her career begin to take off, she’s given more responsibility and beginning to desire Erin’s job. As Cat’s career begins to soar, Erin begins to doubt the authenticity of Cat’s writing and how she also manages to always be at the right place at the right time.

The story is a fast paced thriller with two strong and determined women at the forefront of the story in a male dominated industry, both striving to be recognised for their skills and not for their tea making skills. I really liked Erin, she put her career before her role as a wife and mother but she’s determined to make amends and return to the family home. Cat’s life has also been far from perfect, having grown up with an abusive father, she has always worked hard to better her life and now is her time to shine. Once a meek and mousey woman, we see her begin to grow in confidence, speak out and speak back to others.

‘Kill For It’ is a story about power, success and rivalry and is a taunt thriller that grips the reader.
