Killer Heels by Rebecca Chance

Killer Heels

“Killer Heels” is the fourth book by Rebecca Chance.

From the suburbs of Luton to the avenues of Manhattan, Coco Raeburn formerly known as Jodie, has worked her way up the ladder and she will do anything to get her own editorship at a top fashion magazine, even it means starving herself to death.

Her ruthless boss Victoria Glossop is her idol, editor at top fashion magazine Style, she too has her own ambitions and will let nothing come between her and her goal. But then an enigmatic stranger enters her life and thaws the feared editor in the most wicked of ways. Mireille Grenier has been Style fashion’s editor for over twenty years and the sophisticated French woman is not letting anyone particularly Victoria and Coco steal her crown.

Meanwhile Jacob Dupleix, media magnate and owner of Style, is one of the most powerful men in New York and London, but when he embarks on a dangerous liaison, he wonders could his whole glittering empire come tumbling down around him.

I was shocked to see how many books that Rebecca Chance had published and I had never heard of her before. I loved “Killer Heels”, it is an addictive and gritty read set in the cut throat industry of publishing, where people will stop at nothing to successfully get to the top.

The story was wonderfully cast, with three powerful women taking centre stage. Of all the women, Victoria was my favourite. I loved her drive and sharp manner that made so many people quake in her presence, but as she fell in love she became a gentler soul that it was hard not to warm to her. Seen from the perspective of the editor, fashion editor and the new intern, it gives a extraordinary insight to the magazine world, the backstabbing, the bitching as the strongest all claw for the survival in the ruthless world of ambition.

Written with attitude, bursting with celebrities, designers and sizzling with sex and betrayal. Enter the glossy world of media and power as “Killer Heels” takes you on an adventure of sassiness and glamour as it reveals the darker side to the publishing.

If you are looking for a book that is a mixture of “The Devil Wears Prada” with “Fifty Shades of Grey”, then “Killer Heels” is for you! It will have you gasping and tingling in all the right places!
