‘Long Story’ is the latest story by Vicki Notaro.

Tara is a famous movie star, known for her leading roles in beloved rom coms. Alex is a powerhouse podcast host and writer, covering all things celebrity and pop culture. Vicki is back with another slick story set in the glamourous world of acting and podcasts, a world not too far away from her own reality.

The story is seen through the narrative of best friends Tara and Alex, both destined for great things but only one was really determined to achieve. One of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses and part of a power couple, Tara’s world comes tumbling down when her marriage breaks up publicly and best friend Tara is there to help heal the heartbreak. A successful podcaster, Alex is happy in her life, apart from one thing – relationships. She never got over her brief dalliance with rock star Sean Sweeney and when his tell all memoir hits the bookshelves, she finds out Tara had a relationship with him, even though they promised never to go out with him. Now that he’s back on their radar, the women find themselves at loggerheads convinced they are one that has gotten away that he refers to and the strong friendship comes crashing down.

I loved this story, it’s sassy, fun and packed with drama. Both characters are strong willed and driven women who are tackling real problems and most of them are under the scrutiny of the public, dealing with heartache and grief, this story made for tender and sad reading in parts. There was also a lovely return to Dessie Daniels from Vicki’s debut novel, ‘Reality Check’ and I love her personality.

Set between Ireland and America, this is a modern story about life in the public, love and drama. ‘Long Story’ is an addictive and fun packed book with strong characters, entertaining scenarios and an insight into the world of Hollywood. I absolutely adored this witty and emotional rollercoaster of a story. Escapism reading at its finest.
