Life is looking up for Saffy. She has a great job, a gorgeous flat in the most desirable part of Dublin and – after six years – it looks like her boyfriend, Greg, is going to propose. Greg (just voted the 9th most eligible man in Ireland) is on a high, too – he’s about to swap his part as a heart-throb in an Irish soap. His best mate Conor wakes up every morning with Jess, the most beautiful woman on the planet but, even after seven years and two kids, she won’t marry him. He spends his days teaching teenagers and his nights writing the book he hopes will change everything, including Jess’s mind. But their happy endings are playing hard to get. It seems everyone’s keeping secrets – one night stands, heartbreak, grief and loss are all in the mix. It’s going to take some tough questions and even tougher answers before anyone’s being honest – even with themselves.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed this book, filled with Irish charm and wit this book is the perfect pick me up. The story is seen from the perspective of two couples who are all best friends with each other. Saffy works at a busy advertising agency whilst her boyfriend Greg is the face of the Irish prime time soap ‘The Station’. What he lacks in height, he more than makes up in with his charm and humour and when he finally proposes Saffy’s dreams has finally come through. Conor has been with Jess for seven years and anytime he mentions marriage, she runs a mile even though they have twins together. A struggling teacher by day and an aspiring author by night, he is working hard to make a better life for his small family.

The story follows the relationships of the friends and it all makes for entertaining and interesting reading. I loved Saffy, a strong and determined young woman, she has been brought up by her mother after her father left them. Heartbroken, that her father deserted them, Saffy feels inferior that her father didn’t stick around and often wondered why he left. Greg is the highlight of the story, all body and no brain, he regularly says well known rhymes and sayings completely wrong and this really made me laugh. I loved it. Jess and Conor are a sweet couple and in the scenes with their children is also lovely lighthearted reading.

This is the second book that I’ve read by Ella and it’s also the second book that I pretty much dropped everything so I could read it in peace. I will admit, I was initially a bit bemused by the title of the book but as it flowed along, it did make sense. An emotionally uplifting story that just radiates humour and warmth throughout, ‘Postcards From The Heart’ is a captivating tale that shows that the path of true love never runs smoothly.
