Frumpy, insecure, London real life journalist Mia is unfulfilled with her life. Her job interviewing the weird and wonderful people of the world is thankless, she doesn’t have a love life and her family are on the brink of driving her to the edge. If she were a pair of shoes she would be ballet pumps – reliable, comfortable and just a little bit dull.
Gorgeous Natasha Logue is a celebrity fashion stylist with everything she could possibly want at her feet. Her days are spent smooching around with celebs, wearing outrageously expensive clothes and dating London’s sexiest men. She is the epitome of a Louboutin – sleek, stylish and the envy of every other woman out there.
But one day Mia and Natasha’s worlds collide in a way neither could imagine possible and suddenly the shoes are on the other foot. But will a new chance of life be the opportunity both women need to change? We discover what it’s really like walking in somebody else’s shoes.
‘Somebody Else’s Shoes’ is a brilliant story, that keep me entertained one cold April evening. Written in a short and snappy style, it was hard not to become embroiled in the insecure world of Mia, the young budding journalist and Natasha, the pushy and controlling stylist to the stars. I enjoyed Tiffany’s laid-back style of writing that immediately made me relax in story’s world. The characters were all such fun to read, I particularly enjoyed Mia, I thought she was a sweetheart as she went on a journey of life and self discovery and as time raced against her, she tried to find her happy ever after. She was sweet to read but occasionally the harsher more coldhearted traits of Natasha appeared which made for surprising reading but gave the story quite a good twist, as Mia wondered if she wanted to go back to her old world of envying others and struggling to live. Her friend Charlotte, is a fun best friend, as she rallies around Mia helping her along and is the only person who knows Mia’s dilemma. Other characters that made the story fun was Gareth, Natasha’s bitchy and flamboyant assistant and Margot, Mia’s hippy boss who regularly made Mia wonder what she is doing.
The perfect short read, ‘Somebody Else’s Shoes’ is a wonderful story that is both thought provoking and laugh out loud funny in places, filled with handsome men, guardian angels and tartan wearing dogs, this book is the ideal escapism read with quite a sweet sentiment in it.
