Olivia Jackson’s life is one big to-do list. But after her sister tragically dies and leaves her a ticket to go travelling, Olivia has to leave her perfectly ordered world – albeit with a meticulously organised itinerary. Jacob Green couldn’t be more different. He’s been travelling the world for five years and lets destiny decide where he goes next with a roll of a dice. When the two first meet, Olivia finds Jacob’s laid-back attitude infuriating. Not to mention her unanswered question as to why he’s been travelling for so long without going back home. But as they part ways, she can’t help but wish her carefully laid plans involved him.
Looking for the perfect escapism story to curl up with this summer? Then look no further as ‘Take A Chance On Me’ is an uplifting story of hope and new beginnings set against the exciting and exotic background of India.
Seen from the perspective of Olivia and Jacob, a pair of people who’s lives have taken turns for the worst. Olivia is let go from work due to stress and has never gotten the chance to mourn her younger sister, who’s last dying wish was for Olivia to travel to India. Now on a break from work, Olivia decides to take the trip which is completely out of her comfort zone and her control, whilst Jacob lives by the roll of dice, an unique way to live but one that works for him.
When he and Olivia literally run into each other, the chemistry lifts off the page for the two of them, calm and collected, Jacob is a polar opposite to Olivia who lives by the rulebook and an agenda. Together they make an interesting duo as they bounce off each other and Jacob shows Olivia some of his favourite places in the country.
The story is beautifully written with vivid descriptions of India that literally sweep you away and mouthwatering food that left me hungry.
