After a betrayal that sent their marriage into freefall, Hannah and Sam are desperate for a fresh start with their eight-year-old daughter Lily―and where better than picture-perfect Owl Cottage in beautiful Cornwall. But something about the holiday home stirs dark memories for Hannah. When she finds dead creatures on the doorstep and hears mysterious knocks at the door, Hannah can’t help wondering whether someone is messing with her―or whether the past she’s been running from has finally claimed her sanity. As the disturbing events at Owl Cottage seep out into the local community and the police become involved, Hannah turns to Sam for help, but when he dismisses her worries, she wonders if she was wrong to ever trust him. Are the memories making her paranoid, or is this something more sinister than she dares imagine?

If you enjoy dramatic and intense thrillers set in the Cornish coast then the latest book by Teressa Driscoll is a must read!
Its short and snappy chapters make this fast paced story a thrilling road and even though I planned to read the first five chapters, I read thirty!

The story is primarily seen through the narrative of Hannah, who’s escaped to Cornwall with her husband and daughter. Their marriage is in turmoil and they hope the break will hope heal the wounds but instead Hannah finds their quaint little cottage the source of attack. The cottage named ‘Owl Cottage’ becomes a spot for dead owlets to be left at their door and knocking only for no one to be there. As the strange things happen, Hannah is left to question her own sanity and this also makes her reflect on her childhood when a tragedy occurred.

This bleak and claustrophobic story was impossible to put down, Cornwall is one of England’s top tourist destinations but Teresa’s vivid descriptions made me want to never venture near the place! With dead baby owls and hostile residents, it sounded far from welcoming. The story flows between the narrative of Hannah, her husband Sam and Hannah’s mother who all give an insight into Hannah’s life and why she is how she is.

The story is packed with many twists and turns that really hooked me in, and some of the characters made for interesting reading as well. Packed with drama and suspense, ‘Tell Me Lies’ is a dark and intriguing story that had me on the edge of my seat the whole time throughout!

You can buy ‘Tell Me Lies’ from Amazon and is available to buy from good bookshops.
