That Gallagher Girl

That Gallagher Girl is the latest novel by Irish author Kate Thompson, following the lives of the residents of Lissmore, a small fishing village in Ireland.

The newest resident to come to the village, is young free spirited Cat Gallagher who lives in where ever she can gain entry, but luck seems to be on her side as she finds a empty villa and immediately it becomes home. Whilst living there, she paints to pass the time, a gift passed on from her artistic father and lives of the vegetable orchard. Everything seems to going smoothly for her until one day unexpectedly, the owner arrives to claim back the house. Suddenly Cat has to think fast on her feet about she can continue to live there, so she offers her services to young Finn, to help him renovate the house in time for his father’s return, his father being Shane Byrne, the big Hollywood star.

Meanwhile Rio, the owner of the vegetable patch that Cat has been stealing from and Finn’s mother, is having her own problems. When Adair, an old flame of her’s has returned to the town with a secret and asks for her hand in marriage. She agrees and is content with her decision, until the one love of her life, Shane Byrne returns to the village, sending her emotions into chaos.

That Gallagher Girl is a unique book from Kate Thompson. From the very beginning I found it hard to like Cat, I found her opinionated, blunt and relentless, but when you discover the hardships she had gone through in her life, then you begin to understand why she is how she is and thats when I began to like her, I really enjoyed this book and made me a envy the residents of Lissmore, as the sun always seemed to shine and there was always a celebrity walking through the village. Another great story by bestselling Kate Thompson about the complications of love, family and friends.
