This book is an amazing debut, filled with Irish charm, wit and plenty of paranormal activity, Kat Winter has delivered a book that made me laugh and fill up in equal measures.
The story is seen solely through the entertaining narrative of Rosie Potter, a young woman who wakes up one morning, dead in her bed. Unable to move on until justice has been served, Rosie sets about with her own private investigation and helps deal with the sudden realisation that her life has come to an end and all the things that she had planned to do in her life is no longer possible.

Even though the story is quite a dark one, it is delivered in a humorous style that had me laughing as Rosie tested her ghost powers and scared those around her. Rosie is an immensely likeable character, loud with an unfortunate lust for life, she is determined to find her killer and spends her days going from family to friends, to help her deal with her untimely death. Other supporting characters in the story such as her best friend Jenny and childhood friend Charles add an injection of reality to the story as they too want to find out what happened to her. As the story is set in rural Ireland, it’s packed with eccentric little characters and quirks that make for delightful reading.

With a striking and playful cover, ‘The Happy Ever Afterlife Of Rosie Potter (RIP)’ is far from being a miserable story about death, it’s an upbeat romantic comedy with an element of mystery that is cleverly written and is definitively one of my favourite debuts of 2015. A must read for fans of fellow Irish author, Marian Keyes.
