The Love Letter by Fiona Walker

The Love Letter

“The Love Letter” is Fiona Walker’s second novel with Sphere and just like her previous novels, it’s a rip-roaringly bumpy ride.

When Allegra North (Legs) parts from her first love Francis after a decade together, she pens a letter to her ex lover, pouring her heart and soul into the letter, confessing her regret after cheating on him with her boss. He doesn’t reply and Legs is left to wonder what if? A year later, Legs has to return to small rural village in Devon, where her love with Francis started and she hopes that on her return, that same love will blossom again.

But it seems that fate is not on Legs’ side, when a family crisis erupts and a brief encounter with Francis, causes Legs to realise that her and Francis may not be on the same page. As the exes juggle with vengeful parents and Legs has to convince the reluctant Gordon Lapis, the biggest author since JK Rowling, to attend the village’s literature festival, as his appearance holds the key to everybody’s future. Just when Legs thinks things can’t any more complicated, her love letter to Francis makes an unwelcome return, throwing everything into chaos.

With a beautifully illustrated cover featuring the wonderful Legs and the adorable Bassett Hound, Fink, it’s hard to resist this eye catching book on the bookshelf.

“The Love Letter”, is a wonderfully entertaining read, it’s picturesque settings were ideal for plot of the story and Legs as the reluctant heroine was a delight to follow, as she went from one haphazard adventure to the next. One of the things that I love in particular about Fiona Walker, is that she always manages to create some of the most attractive, broody male characters, some that I regularly fall in love with as the story progresses. Whether you dream of being serenaded or being rescued there is a Prince Charming for everyone. Filled with some of the most flamboyant characters from the eccentric to the reclusive, “The Love Letter” is a refreshing, warm-hearted joy to read, jampacked with literature quotes, a cute Bassett hound and one of the sexiest characters of 2012, I couldn’t put the book down!

If you are looking for a bit of spice and a whole lot of fun, then “The Love Letter” is the book for you.
