The Picture Of Innocence By TJ Stimson
‘The Picture Of Innocence’ is the latest book by TJ Stimson.
With three children under ten, Maddie is struggling. On the outside, she’s a happy young mother, running a charity as well as a household. But inside, she’s exhausted. She knows she’s lucky to have to have a support network around her. Not just her loving husband, but her family and friends too.
But is Maddie putting her trust in the right people? Because when tragedy strikes, she is certain someone has hurt her child – and everyone is a suspect, including Maddie herself…
If you’re looking for a thriller with a twist, then I’d wholeheartedly recommend this story, with an unreliable protagonist and an gripping storyline, this book was difficult to put down.
Suffering from post natal depression and trying to fix her sinking business, Maddie is finding life hard and the finger of blame is pointing at her when her family suffer a terrible tragedy. As she tries to piece it all together, Maddie finds memories disappearing and begins to doubt herself when things begin to happen. Meanwhile, there is the inclusion of a smaller story of a little suffering horrendous abuse at the hands of her mother and throughout the story, the reader is left wondering who the little girl is.
I really enjoyed this story, it’s just the right amount of thriller and suspense to keep the reader gripped. Maddie is a relatable character, struggling with three children, particularly two under years old, life is tying especially when her usually supportive husband, Lucas isn’t around. We can sympathise with her when things happen but we also question her reliability.
Thrilling from the first page and written at a fast pace, ‘The Picture of Innocence’ is a dark and intense story filled with twists and turns that made it impossible to put down.
