This Child of Mine by Sinead Moriarty
“This Child of Mine” is the eighth book by Irish bestseller, Sinead Moriarty.
Sophie is a happy 18 year old living a quiet, content life with her headmistress mother, Anna. With no other family in her life, Anna commits her life to Sophie, leaving her wanting for nothing.
Meanwhile. Laura is a not so happy artist who also has a daughter called Mandy. But Laura is haunted by the loss of her first daughter Jody. Happy as she is, Mandy lives in Jody’s shadow and wonders why her mother can’t let her ghost sister go.
Both mothers carry deep hidden secrets and will never forget the day their paths crossed.
Once again Sinead has delivered another turbulent, rollercoaster of a book. Beautifully written about sensitive issues, such as teenage pregnancy, infertility and child abduction, this book was hard to put down. All the issues are handled with love and care, as we see both sides of the story, the lost mother and the abductor, both dealing with heartbreak and tragedy as they both try to carry on with their lives.
Like her previous novels, Sinead has included wonderful characters, such as angst ridden EMO Mandy and runaway WAG Lexie, who both add an element of comedy to the the story making the bittersweet tale a little more lighthearted, that will leave you rushing from bouts of giggles to tears in quick succession.
“This Child of Mine” is a moving and honest story about the strong desire to be a mother and how intense, the bond between a mother and daughter is. Presented with a beautifully glittery cover, “This Child of Mine” is an enchanting story of love and loss and just how far you would go for the one you love.

Think it was absolutely brilliant book and to me anyway such an original concept, I am too old to relate to the drug bit, but it still was great.
I loved this book, I think it has to be my favourite of all her books!
