Kennedy Mitchell is brilliant, beautiful and tired of being the only Black woman in the room. Two years ago, she was plucked from reception for a seat at the boardroom table in the name of “representation”. Rather than play along, she and her best friend founded Token, a boutique PR agency that helps diversity-challenged companies and celebrities. With famous people getting into reputation-damaging controversies, Token is in high demand and business is booming, but when her ex shows up needing help repairing his reputation, things get even more complicated and soon Kennedy finds herself drawn into a PR scandal of her own.

Filled with attitude, sophistication and drama, ‘Token’ was a fantastic book from start to finish. Kennedy is a great protagonist, she’s a fierce and smart woman who’s actively trying to create diversity in companies as well as putting out fires left, right and centre. At the heart of one of her fires is Nate, the brother of her best friend’s and business partner Aurora, who’s company which was once the most diverse is now at the heart of a scandal, And, even though Kennedy, doesn’t want to help, she can’t stay away from the charismatic and handsome Nate and this adds so much sexual tension to the story!

Cleverly and snappily written, ‘Token story is packed with all the great attributes that make it engaging, with strong characters, drama and social issues this romantic comedy difficult to out down.
