I’ve been a fan of Alyson for a number of years particularly when she released ‘Immortals’, her young adult supernatural series.

Aster, Layla and Tommy are all competing to become the ultimate club promoter, they are battling against each other and all have very different motives for their entry into the world. Astor is hoping that becoming a club promoter will help her become recognised and that will help her become an actress. Layla wants to work in the clubs to help reveal the secrets of the seedy industry and the people who are often seen falling out of the clubs, she wants to reveal it all on the blog and hope this will help her gain her place in university. Meanwhile handsome Tommy, is using the opportunity to further his chances of becoming a musician as well as get close to his unknown father, Ira Redman, the mysterious and successful man behind the nightclubs. The story also follows Madison Brooks, a sought after young actress, who is admired and loved by many. Madison has worked hard for her life and seems to be hiding from something and then when she suddenly disappears, it appears that Aster, Layla and Tommy are all suspects as they all interacted with the young woman at one stage.

‘Unrivalled’ is a glitzy and glamorous affair set against the backdrop of Hollywood, where appearance and social status rule.

The characters are interesting and each individual give the story a fresh twist. Aster is a spoilt, protected young girl, Layla is quite snobbish in her opinion and looks down on the people who frequent the clubs she promotes whilst Tommy is quite sweet in a tortured, musician kind of way.

The story is riddled with drama, backstabbing, bitchiness and is perfect for fans of ‘Pretty Little Liars’. Filled with suspense, the story gives an observant insight into the nightclub industry and keeps the readers on their toes with the situations and mystery that surrounds them.

An intriguing and dark story from the start, ‘Unrivalled’ is an eye opening story about nightclubs, after hours and just how far people will go to keep their secrets hidden and is an addictive start to a brand new series.
