Watch Me By Angela Clarke – Review And Giveaway
[amazon_link id=”000817461X” target=”_blank” ][/amazon_link]Author of ‘Follow Me’, Angela Clarke is back with a new book this year called ‘ Watch Me’ which is the second book in her Social Media Murder series.
The body of a 15-year-old is found hours after she sends a desperate message to her friends. It looks like suicide, until a second girl disappears. This time, the message is sent directly to the Metropolitan Police – and an officer’s younger sister is missing. DS Nasreen Cudmore and journalist Freddie Venton will stop at nothing to find her. But whoever’s behind the notes is playing a deadly game of hide and seek – and the clock is ticking.
Angela Clarke is back with another new dark book that once again delves in the dark and twisted world of social media and just how consuming the platform can become.
In ‘Watch Me’ the story is all about the social media platform, Snapchat. Snapchat is an image messaging and multimedia mobile application that can send short lived videos to followers before they disappear after 10 seconds. In this book, a young woman is taken captive and her captor is sending videos via Snapchat sending the London Met in disarray as the countdown is on to find the popular blogger.
We see the return of DS Nasreen Cudmore and journalist Freddie Venton, two strong women who are polar opposites of each other, in the first book of the series, the women successfully solved The Hashtag Murder crime and we see them come together to solve this latest kidnapping. Freddie is a bolshy, outspoken woman, that despite her bravado is affected by the previous case and fears that her life will be in a danger for a second time, but she overcomes her fear and uses her social media skills to help straight talking Naseen solve the crime. The only woman in the team, Naseen has to deal with sexism on a regular basis, but with her quick tongue and sharp brain is more than capable of sticking up for herself.
Once again, Angela has written another book that really hooked my attention. Concentrating on the trend of social media, makes the book current and I also found it very informative as I don’t use Snapchat so I found it interesting reading about the app. The story is dark and gritty and not for the faint hearted as the women follow the clues against the clock and end up revisiting the past to help them solve the clues. Creepy and intense, this book is an unpredictable page turner where every character is a suspect. Cleverly written with dominant female leads and a scarily realistic plot line, ‘Watch Me’ a past paced thriller that keeps the reader guessing.
