[amazon_link id=”B00BKQ0PEY” target=”_blank” ][/amazon_link]’Wicked Wives’ is the second book by Anna-Lou Weatherley.
Casino owner and serial gambler Tom Black leaves a trail of broken hearts wherever he goes. So when he disappears, it is no surprise that foul play is suspected. Suspicion points to three women from his past; Eleanor, the socialite with a sordid past, Loretta, the power hungry gold digger and Victoria, the glamorous heartbroken author. But in the game of love, there can be only one winner and these women will stop at nothing to get what they want.
‘Wicked Wives’ is the first book that I have read by Anna-Lou Weatherley and I have to say that it was a gloriously delicious and wicked read, just like the title says.
The story starts in the present where the heartbreaker and much lusted after Tom Black finds himself alone in a yacht furiously running away from his past and the trail of broken hearts and lives that he has left behind. As his past manages to catch up with him, that story then returns to the past to catch up with this scene.
The story is seen through the eyes of many characters, each alternating chapter a different person, giving the story a cleverly plotted and colourful storyline packed with twists, turns and betrayals throughout.
With a wonderful cast of characters of fiercely, independent, fiery and domineering women that certainly make for riveting reading and make it almost impossible to put the book down.
There were so many great characters in the story that it would be hard to pick a favourite, but the three most female central characters were particularly interesting, all glamorous, rich and beautiful, they all harboured deep secrets and fears. Loretta Fiorentino, a fiery Italian socialite who starred in low budget porn films and has a desire for rich men, she strives to respected by everyone but regularly finds herself a mockery through her gaudy wardrobe or irrational behaviour, with an explosive personality and sharp tongue, she is a character that although you may grow to hate her, in rare moments she shows a side of insecurity or vulnerability, that you feel empathy for her. Victoria Mayfield has the life that every woman would envy, happily married to a loving man and a successful writing career behind her, she should be content in life but desperately wants to be a mother and it seems so far out her control, that she tries everything to finally achieve her dream of being a mother and finally Eleanor O’Connor, is the sweetheart of the story, with her hard upbringing and her secret past, she tries everything to keep the past where it belongs whilst trying to look out for wild child daughter Tess. And finally the male characters, are particularly captivating, from the lothario Tom Black to the quiet and brooding Vincent, all handsome and irresistible.
‘Wicked Wives’ is the perfect summer bonk buster read, filled with drama, betrayal, fabulous characters and bucket loads of glamour, this enjoyable story is the ideal escapism read and a most for all fans of Rebecca Chance and Tasmina Perry.
