The Little Pieces Of You And Me Book Tour – A Little Piece Of Then By Vanessa Greene
Today on the book tour for ‘The Little Pieces Of You And Me’, author of the book Vanessa Greene talks about how experiences shape life and how they shape her writing.
Writing a book is a curious and exhilarating experience. You bring your own experiences – childhood, family life, past and present relationships, friendships, and well, even that kind old man you talked to at the bus stop once — and some of it finds a place in your story. Sometimes it’s the experiences you least expect.
‘The Little Pieces of You and Me’ was inspired by friends and family members who have shown me what it is to be truly strong in the face of adversity; people who’ve been dealt a difficult hand in life, and yet have gone on to live in a way that is full and rich with experience and love. Isla isn’t based on a real-life friend, but her spirit is one that’s familiar to me.

Together with her best friend, Sophie, she goes after what she cares about most in life, and doesn’t let her diagnosis define her. She shrugs off labels – something we could all perhaps benefit in doing.
I loved ‘The Little Pieces Of You And Me’ and thought it was an inspirational and heartwarming story about love and illness, this book about female friendship is sweet and uplifting, tackling sensitives issues, that I’m quite familiar with. Sweetly written, it’s a wonderful story about starting over that will have you smiling and crying throughout.
