Vanessa Lafayre Shares Her Writing Tips

Today on the tour for the release of her debut book, ‘Summertime’, author Vanessa Lafaye shares her own writing tips.

Find a story that ignites your passions, one that you really believe in. You will need this drive to get you through the inevitable rejections and setbacks, and pick yourself up and carry on. Also, read your dialogue aloud. This will often show you what needs fixing. When you get stuck, walk away and do something else. Your brain will often come up with a solution if you distract it. Try to see failures as milestones on the way to success—because there will be a lot of them! Don’t worry if your method of writing doesn’t fit the received wisdom. I used to worry that I seemed to share none of the habits of successful writers. Find what works for you.
