My Husband’s Killer By Laura Marshall
‘My Husband’s Killer’ is the latest book by ‘Sunday Times’ bestselling author by Laura Marshall.
Three couples. One murder. A holiday to die for. We arrived at a villa on the Amalfi Coast, ready to enjoy a sun-soaked weekend with our oldest friends – and one new face. By the end of the weekend, my husband is found dead. But how can I mourn him, when on the day of his funeral I discover he was having an affair? The only suspects are the women we went on holiday with. My oldest, closest friends. I really want to dig into my husband’s secret? Do I really want to know who betrayed me?
I’m a huge fan of Laura Marshall, her debut novel called ‘Friend Request’ was the perfect psychological thriller and ‘My Husband’s Killer’ was just as gripping.
The story is primarily seen through the narrative of Liz whose husband has been killed during a getaway with her best friends. As Liz reels from the death, she has to deal with that the killer could have been one of her friends and that the man she thought was her soulmate had some secrets.
The story flows in the past and present tense as, the exotic break away with the friends and new partners. Liz is a lovely character but unfortunately her friends, aren’t the same. Toxic, self-absorbed and interested in materialistic things, out of all the lives Liz, has faired the best. The story is also seen through the perspective of these women and the secrets that they harbour from each other.
Right from the first page, the story pulled me in, the characters are unreliable, dislikable and all have motives to kill Liz’s husband. As the story progresses and Liz delves into their lives, it makes for compelling reading as she tries to piece the bits all together.
The chapters are short so it’s very easy to get whisked on the Greek Island with Liz and her friends, with the exotic backdrop, bubbling tension, ‘My Husband’s Killer’ is an intense and gripping book that was impossible to put down.
