The Beginning Of Everything By Jackie Fraser
‘The Beginning of Everything’ is the latest book by Jackie Fraser.
Jess and Gethin paths cross in the most unexpected way. Jess is running, leaving all she knows and everyone she loves behind her, with just a few treasured belongings in her rucksack. She’s escaping from the pain and trauma of a bad relationship with a bad man, gone very badly wrong. Gethin’s kindness and care takes her breath away. They become friends. But with so much hurt in her past, can Jess learn to love and live again?
What can I say about this book, it’s beautifully written, it’s packed with heart, wonderful characters and a storyline that just kept giving.
The story is seen from the narrative of Jess, a homeless woman looking for a new start, she finds it in an empty house and starts to gather money together to find somewhere to rent. But when Gethin finds her in his house instead of chasing her out, allows her to stay and help renovate the old house as well as becoming good friends.
I loved this story, it’s so hopeful and packed with charm that I was sad when I reached the final page. The characters are wonderful, I loved Jess, she’s kind, creative and her blossoming friendship with Gethin makes for tender reading as both are restarting their lives and beginning to trust others again.
Uplifting, packed with kindness and hope, ‘The Beginning of Everything’ is an observational look into the kindness of humanity that is both witty and poignant.
