What the Night Knows by Dean Koontz
What the Night knows tells the story of Billy Lucas, a fourteen year old who one night goes on a killing spree and murders his whole family. Now safely in a secure wing, of a state hospital, Detective John Calvino visits the teenager and immediately notices that Billy, is much too wise and dangerous for his years and begins to think of murders that occurred twenty years ago, as John leaves the hospital with a signed confession from Billy, he begins to fear that he has brought the danger with him?
Worried for himself and his family’s safety, John has to deal with the sudden realisation that he might be in danger, as the eerie feeling continues to follow him and now there is a presence in the house, that the whole family have noticed but are all too afraid to say.
As the sensation grows stronger and there are more family murders, John has to delve into past and deal with the tragic murders of his own family, that he remarkably survived after killing the murderer Alton Blackwood. John fears that history maybe repeating itself and his family might be the next target for the murderer.
This book from the start to finish was an phenomenal read, Dean Koontz has managed to capture old traditional horror within this book, that the likes of Alfred Hitchcook had brought to screen. With scenes of unknown reflections in mirrors, children that can communicate with spirits and the creepy sensations of feeling watched. This book had me entranced, that resulted in many late nights sitting up reading and constantly avoiding mirrors incase I saw an unwelcome shadow!
Another great read by Dean Koontz.
