Help Bring Chalky The Cat To Life
As a book lover, I fully encourage reading to children. I remember when I was child, snuggled up in my bed beside my Mum, reading Disney classics and adventures of giants, helping her turn the wonderfully large and brightly illustrated pages before falling asleep to continue on those adventures.
So, when I recently heard of local web design company Little Thunder Co. launching their Kickstarter project, where they want to bring their series of children’s books to life; I eagerly wanted to show my support of this fantastic idea and do a little to promote the project. The two boys behind the idea Gabriel Muldoon and Tim Potter, have always wanted to create a children’s book and finally decided to make that dream a reality when they both became fathers. Tim’s father, Stanley Potter came up with the idea of Chalky and his adventures.
Tim Potter, Co-founder of Little Thunder Co. states;
“Chalky is our family cat and my father is always telling me stories about the things he would get up to. This inspired him to write a series of short stories about Chalky and his adventures. He sent his first story over to us last year and we were so impressed that we wanted it to see the light of day, and began to bring on board the skills we needed to visualise the story.“
The first book of the series is called ‘Chalky and the New Sports Car’. The series follows Chalky, an inquisitive and adventurous stray white cat who loves to explore. The pages contain huge vibrant illustrations of Chalky stalking and lazing about whilst the short story is written in an array of large fonts, all fun but importantly easy to read for the young reader.
The project is currently on Kickstarter and needs £10,000 for Chalky to happen. For each pound that you donate, you shall receive a little treat for your kind support. The lovely people at Little Thunder Co. are offering eBooks and hardback copies of Chalky as well as prints from the story.
Please show your support and help out with this great idea, because we all know there are never enough young readers in the world and reading as a child is a magical experience that we all remember.
