Missing Julia by Catherine Dunn
Missing Julia is a story about Julia Seymour, a successful retired doctor who suddenly disappears one day without a trace leaving William Harris, a man who deeply lovees her, shocked as to why she would depart so suddenly leaving a tidied, empty house, her favourite clothes to her only child Melissa, but she leaves behind one clue, a white queen overturned on her chess board.
Determined to find out why she would vanish, William sets out on his journey to find Julia especailly when the Garda come looking for her to help with their enquiries, not to look for her.
Whilst on this journey, having to contact Julia’s old friends and bringing up her past, he begins to find out things about the woman he loves and comes to the conclusion that he doesn’t know her at all.
I loved this book and loved both Julia and William equally. When the story is written from Julia’s perspective, its interesting to hear her thoughts, as you try to figure out along with William why she left so suddenly. The characters are so strong in this book, Julia with her severe strong will and William determined to find her and the truth.
Missing Julia was the first book that I have read by Catherine Dunn and will be definately be on the look out for more books by this interesting author.
